Bumps & Cabinets

Week 8

We hit a few bumps toward the end of last week.  Drew and I just weren't satisfied with how the brick looked around the cypress beams in our interior brick wall, so he had the brick layers redo the top half of the wall.  We decided a wider beam would look better so we had to order a new beam to replace our original ones.  But the finished product was definitely worth the do-over!

When we distress our wood floors we'll distress the beams again as well.

We've also decided to do the textured tiles in our master bathroom instead of in the guest bath.  We just like them too much!  We ordered a metallic looking tile to go in the guest bath.

Our cabinets are in throughout the house and I love them.  Our cabinet guy, Robbie Amedee, created some really cool cabinetry designs.  All of our doors are inset so the hinges are all concealed and the doors hang flush with the cabinet.

Our appliance garage!
No visible appliances on my counter tops and yes this includes the microwave!

Our kitchen and living room cabinets will be stained a dark, almost black color and a few of the doors will be thin fluted glass, so they'll look more white than transparent.  They are really going to look good with our white marble counter tops and of course, my granite kitchen sink!  :)

 My side of the bathroom.
The vertical cabinet has outlets on the inside so I never have to unplug anything.
(I think that equals at least 30 more seconds of sleep!)

The infamous, Sherry and Rick Brown, came over to help us pick out paint colors.

In case I forgot to mention it earlier- Rick is an architect and Sherry is a graphic designer.  Excellent friends to have when building a house, plus we love them so much!  Thanks for all of your help, advice, work, and inspiration guys!
