Just Keep Swimming

swimming, swimming!

Andrew took swimming lessons again this summer and this go round he finally seemed to get it!  He was in a class with about 4 other kids that were on his swimming level so he was able to get a lot of one on one attention.  On his last day of lessons each class demonstrated what they had learned over the last two weeks of classes.  Andrew did so well, we are so proud of the time and effort he put in this year.  If you live in our area and you are looking for a place to send your kids for swimming lessons we definitely recommend Pards Aquatics.

WIshy Washy

About a month ago our washing machine started making this godawful screeching noise during the spin cycle.  Drew said, "Something about the bearings...blah fixable... blah blah blah."...I said "Time for a new washer and dryer."  I knew I didn't want a front load washer because all of my friends and family who have them complain about theirs.  So we decided on the Samsung 5451 top load high-efficiency washer and dryer.  So far I love them!  I can wash a week's worth of clothes for two people in two loads!  Some of my favorite features are the "Handwash" setting on the washer for my delicates and that the dryer is a steam dryer which means less ironing.  And who wants to spend more of their day doing laundry and ironing?!  I'll admit I spent the first few loads staring through the glass watching the spin cycle, it's so fast and the tune at the end of the cycle cracks me up and thanks to YouTube, I have since learned that the tune is a rendition of Franz Schubert's "The Trout!"

Interview With an Andrew

Whenever Andrew is home we almost always play "The Favorites Game" where we ask each other, "What is your favorite blank?"  Before Andrew went back I wanted to do a mock interview with him and document his answers so we can look back each summer and see what has changed from year to year....and of course giggle about the silly things that come out of his mouth! It was so much fun.  Some answers I knew before I even finished the question and some I never would have guessed.  He would say things like "Did you get that?" or "Oh that's easy!"  He was pretty serious about each answer and some he thought deeply about before answering.  He's so smart and so funny.  Good gravy I miss him a whole, whole bunch!
