Randomness Gauranteed...

Or your money back.

Now that I'm pretty much caught up on blogging from our weekend, I can relax and talk about completely random things...

First, I am very glad the storms held off until we were out of Birmingham.  A mile wide tornado, no ma'am!  Not this chick-a-dee.  I'm also very thankful that while we had a pretty bad storm yesterday it was nothing compared to today's storms across the South.  It was windy and sultry and I'll take that any day over tornadoes.

Next, what do you do for stress relief?  Me, I bite my nails, color, reorganize a drawer or my shoe shelves, take a long, hot bath, blog about it, call my mama, or drink a glass of Merlot/ice cold Miller Lite.  Right now my nails are a wreck!  Monday morning my boss came by my office and asked where I wanted to go for lunch.  After the inquisitive look I gave him he said "I'm giving you a performance review today."  There went my finger nails!  There should be an OSHA regulation that states, "No performance reviews on Mondays."  All went well and praises were abundant...but now my fingers are just pathetic!  (I also called my Mom and drank a pony!)

Work.  I pretty much love my job.  It's something different every day, our department doesn't take any crap, we all get along great, and we're all a bunch of smart-asses, so the day passes by fast.  One thing that I have got to get a handle on is eating at work!  Now Drew and I eat pretty healthy.  Drew packs a healthy lunch for me every night, I fix oatmeal or egg-whites for breakfast.  But then I get to work and the guys have cooked pancakes & sausage or grits & bacon.  And then don't get me started on lunch, fried bass, deer roast...just this week they cooked turkey gumbo & cornbread. (I CANNOT turn down cornbread!) And everyone knows Louisianians are the best cooks around!  Take tomorrow for instance, we're boiling crawfish onsite for our entire building...besides the salt I guess crawfish aren't THAT bad for you, but crawfish are right up there with cornbread.  And since they ARE seasonal, I'm pretty sure it's a sin to turn them down.  This week I started bringing my egg-whites or oatmeal TO work...so far it's worked.
Butter beans/Lima beans.  Yes they are the same thing, but in the South we consider them to be two distinctly different types of beans, baby lima beans & Fordhook lima beans aka butter beans...who'd a thunk it.  I love these little suckers and there are some cooking on my stove as I type.  They have lots of fiber and are a virtually fat-free source of protein.  Bring on the beans!

Hard drives.  Crashes of any sort don't bring with them good news or tidings.  And the same is true when our hard drive crashed last week on our desktop computer.  We keep so much on our computers now that I can't even take an accurate inventory on what I may lose.  Countless pictures, documents of all kinds, our accounting data, etc. etc.  Last night a friend tried to breathe some life into our pitiful Dell without much luck.  This is one area, computer troubleshooting/repair, that I must say I don't have much of a clue about.  I took an engineering computer programing class at LSU...but the computer has to work in order to write programs.  Right?  Right.  So a lot of exchanged computer lingo later, turns out we have to put our hard drive in another computer in hopes to save our data.  We'll see how that goes.

Chicken.  I pretty much hate it and all of its healthy virtues.  Beef, it's what's for me.  (And bacon.)
Supper Club!  Supper club #4 is this Saturday.  I miss our supper club crew and can't wait to hang out with them.  Michelle sent out the cutest invites, love it.  We get so in to our supper clubs!

Denham Springs Spring Festival.  My BF Britt reminded me today that it's this Saturday!  There's just something comforting about your hometown's festivals. :)

My niece is graduating from high school!  I just can't believe it.  She's growing up TOO fast.  Drew & I went to see her off for her Sr. prom...after seeing her drive off with her boyfriend all gussied up...Drew started having doubts about a babygirl Day. ;)

Fresh garlic.  It pretty much rocks.  Not only because of the adverse effects on vampires & werewolves, but also because it's SO delicious.  Did you know garlic is a member of the onion family, I didn't but it makes sense.  Definitely a culinary delight!

Finally, chargers.  Camera chargers, phone chargers, laptop chargers, kindle chargers, ds chargers, clipper chargers, rechargeable battery chargers...I'm sick of all the chargers!  It's ridiculous...everything that requires charging should have a universal charger!

Random...told ya so.

History Repeated

Drew's mom gave me a scrapbook of Drew this morning from when he was a baby until he graduated highschool.  He was (as still is) such a cutie! I can't get over how many faces he and Andrew have in common!  I couldn't wait to share this picture...

Happy Easter!

Easter morning was finally here!!

The Easter Bunny was up late getting the sweetest little boy arounds Easter goodies ready.  But we were up bright and early to see our man's beautiful smile light up.

Sweetie Pie!

He woke up saying, "It's Easter, today's the big day!"

Gold dollar coins!

"Look Daddy, Ben 10 for DS!"

The Easter bunny is all about oral hygiene!

After checking out all of the Easter goodies we read about Jesus' resurrection from Andrew's first bible, given to him by Mama Day. :)

We ate Easter lunch at Chuy's Mexican Grill, our 2nd favorite restaurant in B-Ham.  The patio has a great view from The Summit.

As you can see we had an amazing time and once again made some incredible memories.  We always ask Andrew at the end of his stays with us what his favorite and least favorite things we did are.  This time his least favorite thing was "Waiting in the car while Do-Dah went to the store."  (The Easter bunny had to pick up a few things from Target, he only called me twice from his Dad's phone!)  And his favorite thing was the drive-in movie.  "I really liked the driving movie!"  The drive-in movie was Drew and my favorite also...that and the Vera Bradley store and Swoozies!  (Definitely check out Swoozie's! www.swoozies.com)

Last night over sushi at Sakura, we were talking about the weekend and we both agreed, never again.  If we can possibly help it whatsoever we will never again spend Easter in a hotel room or in a town without our families.  While we were busy the whole time we would rather be busy running from house to house instead of from theme park, to zoo, to a movie.  Like I said we have some great memories from the weekend, but memories with our families mean so much more.

My Pride, My Joy

  • My husband.  This weekend I was reminded of how proud I am of my husband for choosing to raise Andrew in a home filled with love, with me. :)
  • Andrew.  For being so resilient.
  • My car.  For getting 24 miles to the gallon while my husband drove you 80-90 miles an hour.  You deserve a good detailing!
  • My husband. For being honest with Andrew about a tough situation.
  • My radar detector.  For keeping my husband from getting a speeding ticket.
  • Andrew.  For being so smart and wise at six. :)
  • Alabama jokes.  For keeping the drive through AL interesting! lol!
  • My camera.  So many memories captured.
  • My yard.  For welcoming me home with so many beautiful sights!
I'll leave you with a few pictures of....you guessed it!  Flowers from my yard!

Our first tomatoes!

My magnolia tree is just a bloomin'!

My hydrangeas refused to be outdone by the magnolias.

Bell pepper

Day lillies!

Drive-In Zoology

Saturday morning we woke Andrew up with a little surprise, we had reservations to have breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the Birmingham Zoo!  You would have thought it was Christmas morning.  So we loaded up and headed to the zoo.  I must say B-Ham has a really great zoo!

 Sweetest little boy I know!

 These are my boys!

 Bunny kisses

Andrew wanted me to take a picture of the Easter Bunny's butt...here you go Bud.

 Poser

Mr. Snake came out to see him...judging by the look on his face, I don't think he liked it very much.

 Talking turtles...

 Yeah, it was pretty serious...

 Birds like Daddy :)

WOW!

These babies hatched on April 12th.

 Our little kangaroo, Andy-Roo

Future male model??

Very tribal indeed

 Little drummer boy

 Andrew's first camel ride!
He won't hold a bird but he will jump on a camel named Big Joe!

Around and 'round we go, where we'll stop nobody knows!
After our carousel ride, Andrew was ready to go back to the hotel to "rest" which translates into me napping while the boys wrestle, reenact Ben 10 adventures, and play DS.

During my nap Drew found a drive-in movie theater!  Andrew could not wrap his head around the concept of a drive-in movie.
"What do you mean we watch the movie in the car?  We drive the car into the movie theater?  How do we see the screen?"

When he realized he got to sit ON the car to watch the movie he was pretty excited!

Dancing to Rio!

Finally, it was time for a bed time snack...

Nothing like a little Taco Bell in bed. :)
We sure do love spoiling our little man!
