Spring has Sprung

The weather has not only been perfect for construction but it's also been perfect for playing!!!

"Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay.  My, oh my, what a wonderful day.  Plenty of sunshine headin' my way...."

A beautiful day for a St. Patty's Parade

A beautiful day to make wishes

A great day for kisses

A wonderful day for a crawfish boil

A fabulous day for jumping

A beautiful day to ride a bike with no training wheels :)

And a fabulous day to take a ride on a rope swing!

God blessed us with wonderful weather this weekend, and we definitely spent as much time as we could soaking up the beautiful sunshine.

Week 2, and Counting!

We are 2 weeks into building, heating and AC will be roughed in this week and framing should be finished!  Our house will be completely enclosed aka "blacked in" in another two weeks.  A-mazing!

My favorite fellas! :)

Lot Map

This is the map showing the survey of our lot, which looks pretty big, but the back of our lot drops off into Grey's Creek.  Which Andrew is thoroughly excited about because where there's water they're can be fish!   I tried to tell him not many fish can live in calf-deep water, but we will be able to make plenty of mud pies and catch tadpoles!

Can we build it? Yes we can!

Half way through week two and framing is moving right along, I can't believe how fast it's going up!

Drew and I went with some friends, Rick and Sherry Brown, Tuesday to look at some of the houses they've designed and we got some really great ideas for the more "modern-industrial" look we're wanting on the interior.  I didn't think it was possible to be more excited but after seeing in person some of the things we have only been able to visualize mentally, I can confirm that my excitement has reached that Christmas morning level!  :)

Set in Stone...well Concrete!

We are 1 week into building our new home and man are we excited!  The slab is poured and framing starts next week.  We are so ready to be back in our favorite neighborhood.  Right now we are living in a 650 square foot condo in downtown Baton Rouge and needless to say it's like trying to squeeze your foot into a shoe that's three sizes too small.  All of our worldly possessions are packed away in a POD and there isn't a month that goes by that Andrew doesn't say, "You 'member that toy I used to play with at our old house, where is it?"  I think he's starting to think of "storage" as a big bully who has taken all of his BIG toys. :(

Today we took Andrew out to see the site and while it was freezing he stood in every room on the slab and visualized where everything would be, especially in his room.  He exclaimed, "This is the biggest house I've 'eber seen!"  I miss being able to judge everything on a kid size scale, but with Drew's "Man Cave" we are looking at about 3000 square feet of living area.  Can you said M-A-I-D!!

Drew found these new cypress beams and then distressed them himself.  These will be headers in the interior brick walls of the library and foyer.

Our first picture in our new house! :)
