Or your money back.
Now that I'm pretty much caught up on blogging from our weekend, I can relax and talk about completely random things...
First, I am very glad the storms held off until we were out of Birmingham. A mile wide tornado, no ma'am! Not this chick-a-dee. I'm also very thankful that while we had a pretty bad storm yesterday it was nothing compared to today's storms across the South. It was windy and sultry and I'll take that any day over tornadoes.
Next, what do you do for stress relief? Me, I bite my nails, color, reorganize a drawer or my shoe shelves, take a long, hot bath, blog about it, call my mama, or drink a glass of Merlot/ice cold Miller Lite. Right now my nails are a wreck! Monday morning my boss came by my office and asked where I wanted to go for lunch. After the inquisitive look I gave him he said "I'm giving you a performance review today." There went my finger nails! There should be an OSHA regulation that states, "No performance reviews on Mondays." All went well and praises were abundant...but now my fingers are just pathetic! (I also called my Mom and drank a pony!)
Work. I pretty much love my job. It's something different every day, our department doesn't take any crap, we all get along great, and we're all a bunch of smart-asses, so the day passes by fast. One thing that I have got to get a handle on is eating at work! Now Drew and I eat pretty healthy. Drew packs a healthy lunch for me every night, I fix oatmeal or egg-whites for breakfast. But then I get to work and the guys have cooked pancakes & sausage or grits & bacon. And then don't get me started on lunch, fried bass, deer roast...just this week they cooked turkey gumbo & cornbread. (I CANNOT turn down cornbread!) And everyone knows Louisianians are the best cooks around! Take tomorrow for instance, we're boiling crawfish onsite for our entire building...besides the salt I guess crawfish aren't THAT bad for you, but crawfish are right up there with cornbread. And since they ARE seasonal, I'm pretty sure it's a sin to turn them down. This week I started bringing my egg-whites or oatmeal TO work...so far it's worked.
Butter beans/Lima beans. Yes they are the same thing, but in the South we consider them to be two distinctly different types of beans, baby lima beans & Fordhook lima beans aka butter beans...who'd a thunk it. I love these little suckers and there are some cooking on my stove as I type. They have lots of fiber and are a virtually fat-free source of protein. Bring on the beans!
Hard drives. Crashes of any sort don't bring with them good news or tidings. And the same is true when our hard drive crashed last week on our desktop computer. We keep so much on our computers now that I can't even take an accurate inventory on what I may lose. Countless pictures, documents of all kinds, our accounting data, etc. etc. Last night a friend tried to breathe some life into our pitiful Dell without much luck. This is one area, computer troubleshooting/repair, that I must say I don't have much of a clue about. I took an engineering computer programing class at LSU...but the computer has to work in order to write programs. Right? Right. So a lot of exchanged computer lingo later, turns out we have to put our hard drive in another computer in hopes to save our data. We'll see how that goes.
Chicken. I pretty much hate it and all of its healthy virtues. Beef, it's what's for me. (And bacon.)
Supper Club! Supper club #4 is this Saturday. I miss our supper club crew and can't wait to hang out with them. Michelle sent out the cutest invites, love it. We get so in to our supper clubs!
Denham Springs Spring Festival. My BF Britt reminded me today that it's this Saturday! There's just something comforting about your hometown's festivals. :)
My niece is graduating from high school! I just can't believe it. She's growing up TOO fast. Drew & I went to see her off for her Sr. prom...after seeing her drive off with her boyfriend all gussied up...Drew started having doubts about a babygirl Day. ;)
Fresh garlic. It pretty much rocks. Not only because of the adverse effects on vampires & werewolves, but also because it's SO delicious. Did you know garlic is a member of the onion family, I didn't but it makes sense. Definitely a culinary delight!
Finally, chargers. Camera chargers, phone chargers, laptop chargers, kindle chargers, ds chargers, clipper chargers, rechargeable battery chargers...I'm sick of all the chargers! It's ridiculous...everything that requires charging should have a universal charger!
