Father's Day at the Bay

We celebrated Fathers' Day this year at Poppy and Willie's fishing camp in Bay St. Louis.

For the last 3 years Andrew has painted pottery for his Dad and Poppy for Father's Day.  I'll be so sad when he's too old and too cool for painting pottery. :(

Aunt Erin of course made some of her amazing sugar cookies for the weekend!

Thanks to Aunt Erin, Andrew made his Dad, Poppy, and Uncle Brian each their own personalized cookies.
So talented!

And this cutie LOVED her some cookies!
Nom!  Nom!  Nom!

Drew, Erin, and Syd all went in to give Poppy some pantry doors for the camp.
They turned out so good and match the cabinets perfectly!

After breakfast on Sunday we went for a stroll on the beach.

Jax preferred to roll instead of stroll.

Matt Turns 30!!

A few weeks ago one of our very dear friends turn the BIG 3-0!  Drew recently finished building their house which is just down the road from our new house.  We can't wait to be neighbors with Matt and Brittany!  For Matty's birthday his lovin' wife treated him (and us) to a professional cooking class, which we hosted at our house since their new home wasn't quite finished yet.  It was a lot of fun and of course delicious!  We made roasted corn, tomato and basil bruschetta, homemade ricotta stuffed ravioli (yes we even made pasta dough!), roasted asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, and finally homemade cannoli to wrap up an amazing meal!  Thanks Britt for a great night!

If you're looking for a unique and fun way to spend an evening I definitely recommend Chef Josh Hebert.  You can check him out at Bearfoot Culinary Services.

Home for Sale!

I think the word "home" means so much more than the word "house."  A home is where you make memories that you'll recall time and time again.  It's not only your safe haven but the place you can't wait to return to after a long day at work, an extended vacation away, or even just so you can veg out on the couch and do absolutely nothing.

Our house is a home.  My husband built it and gave it so much character with his own two hands.  And if I could have I would have picked it up and moved it to our new place in Watson.  I still love the floor plan, the colors, the modern/industrial styling about it...it's bitter-sweet when I think about moving out of our first home and into a new house.  I know in no time our new house will become a home, especially since all of our Baby Day memories will be there, but there are so many firsts that Drew and I shared with this house as the backdrop.  I hope the next family that moves into it enjoys it as much as we did!

Dream Home Update: Tile and Fixtures

This week was pretty exciting at the new homestead on Wildwood!  Most of the tile was installed and grouted and some of the lighting fixtures and fans were too.  I continue to become a little more excited with each passing week.

(Warning:  Most of the tile still has some grout haze on it.)

 Gallery Hall tile
This hall leads to our office and the boys' bedrooms.

The boys' bedroom fans

The boys' bathroom tile

This tile has shades of blue, gray, and even a little brown.

 Drew's big @ss fan...

I must admit it does look pretty sweet in that big ole room!

The Master Bath

The shower is tiled all the way to the ceiling, definitely loving this!

Shower cubbies

 Striping on Master Bath floor.

Outdoor lighting, industrial explosion proof lights.

Front door lighting.

The black lights look a little out of place right now but once the front porch metal arbor is up, which is also black, I think it will all tie in together.

Full steam ahead!!

Baby Day

Baby Day and I are doing really well!  We had a minor set back when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes (GD) but it's been pretty easy to manage by watching what I eat and eating about six small meals a day seems to be the easiest way to balance out my blood sugar.  I have the check my blood sugar four times a day which has gotten old very quickly, but it's not as bad as I imagined it would be.  It's hard to say why some women experience GD and others don't.  My diabetic counselor said since I wasn't over weight and I was under the age of 35 chances are my case is genetic.  My Dad was diagnosed with Type 2 about ten years ago and my sister Susan had GD with all three of my nephews and was able to manage hers with diet as well.  All of her boys weighed under 8 lbs so I'm hoping for a similar outcome!

I'm sure all of the Moms out there remember this delicious drink!

Since we'll be moving next month our house is beginning to look like Babies-R-Us.  Baby stuff everywhere!  One of Drew's closest friends, Matt, threw him a diaper (and beer) shower and few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure we have enough diapers to last us a full year!!

I also scheduled infant photos with Kimberly Meng!  I'm so excited about this.  I just love looking at the precious photos of all those tiny babies!  Thanks to Etsy I've found some adorable props to use for Baby Day's photos.

And finally I leave you with a few selfie baby bump pics! :)
