A Dream Home on Wildwood

Drew and I have started building our second home together!  While most of my friends who have children say there is no way they could have built a home while being pregnant, thankfully my husband is pretty amazing.  Building our first house was a pretty painless adventure and so far this one has been more of the same.  It helps that building is Drew's career, but what is the best is that not only do I not have to worry about the big things, like "Where should the windows go?" it's that I don't have to worry about the small things either, like "Which way should the door open?"  I can't imagine having to make all of the decisions that come with building a home without a general contractor that you trust wholeheartedly.  And since building is Drew's career he's well versed in the latest and greatest on everything that has to do with building a true "dream home."  We plan on living off of Wildwood for a very long time and while our taste is more sleek lines and more modern than you're typical Southern home, I think our home will be both classic and timeless at the same time.  I can't wait to see and share the finished product with you!  Baby Day's arrival is our deadline, so we are praying for cooperative weather and that everything continues to fall into place.  As we sat in church this morning I couldn't help but thank God once again for the path our life is on, he is truly GREAT!

Over the last several months Drew and I have been browsing on Houzz.com.  Even if you aren't planning on building a home any time soon I definitely recommend checking this sight out for inspiration...or just for a reason to daydream!  You can find our inspirations here, B&D's Houzz.  The Houzz app for iPhone and iPad are great also and free!

Here are our plans and the front elevation.  Our friend and architect Rick Brown, of Brown Studios, did an amazing job helping us come up with something we loved, while using the existing slab from the farm house that had burned on our land.  No easy feat there!

And here is the progress thus far...

And here's Jaxy Boy enjoying the pond...
