Last weekend we celebrated Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo by throwing a "Derby de Mayo" party. We had a great turnout, great food, great drinks, which all came together to equal a fabulous time! Not to mention the race was fantastic, I love upsets! 40/1 odds, I mean really!? It was like watching one of those tear jerking movies about racehorses, where the horse and jockey beat all the odds to win it all. Drew said he totally would have picked "I'll Have Another" solely based on his name...not surprising....at all. :) My pick Bodemeister faded at the end of the race and came in a heartbreakingly second place. He set the 5th fastest pace in derby history...yet no horse has ever won the derby running the first half-mile in 45.4. In face most of them collapse from exhaustion, but Bodemeister came in 2nd! There is definitely something to be said about this horse, keep your eye on him if his owner decides to put him in the Preakness.
A big "Thank You!" to my love for totally embracing my Derby de Mayo idea
and for helping me make it a success!
Another "Thank You!" goes out to my friend Michelle for making my too cute for words party sign!
It was absolutely perfect!

Yes, she made them, she cut them out, she iced them, and she decorated them.
She's amazing...and she knows it. ;)
I loved the mustache cookies!
