So I've been on a blogging hiatus, and while I haven't been busy with any one particular thing I just haven't really felt like sitting down at the computer as of late. But today I decided to play catch up, we'll see how far I get.
Let's see since our trip to Nashville we spent the following weekend in NOLA for the birthday one of my most beloved and talented friends Michelle. It was a weekend of culinary delight! Thanks to Exxon, we we're able to get cheaper rooms at the Ritz, which was fantastic in and of itself. But we also, of course, indulged ourselves on fabulous food in the French Quarter. Dining at places such as Port of Call, for the best burger and spuds this side of the Mississippi River and of course you can't go here without ordering a famous Monsoon, which pirates would request shortly before walking the plank. So you can imagine the potency on one such adult beverage...only in NOLA. We snacked on alligator and oysters at Bourbon House this Dickie Brennan's restaurant is located on Bourbon Street, and is home to every bourbon brand I've ever heard of, this is my favorite stop for a Mint Julep. Then we ended the night with a meal fit for royalty at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. Sunday we strolled through the French Quarter, the weather was beautiful and the Quarter is almost like watching a person in the morning, she's slow to wake up but once she's up there's no stopping her! We ate brunch at Cafe Amelie, which was by far my favorite meal of the weekend. The shrimp 'n grits here are on my Top10 Best Things I've Ever Eaten list. Incredible. Delicious. Wow.
If you've never been to New Orleans you should definitely make a trip, the culture, the food, the music, the nightlife, are like no other in the world.

What's next? Let's talk about Andrew. Andrew moonlit in a third grade math class last week! We are all so very proud of him. His teacher said he wouldn't be going back until after the third grade takes their state test, but after that he'll be going from time to time when they are doing hands-on activities. She sent us some pictures while he was working hard. They have been learning how to measure and use rulers lately. Andrew has always been drawn to anything with numbers, I can remember Drew giving him a small measuring tape and Andrew would clip it too his diaper and say "Mez me." Which meant, "Measure me." And you were expected to do just that. :) President's Day is our holiday with him so we'll be going to B-Ham for a long weekend with our favorite math genius, we can't wait to see our little man!!
Um, how about Jax. Jaxy Boy has grown so much over the last month! We had to get him a new kennel which he loves...okay may "loves" is a strong word but he likes it enough that when we say "Kennel!" he runs to it. He so smart! I love coming home to a happy puppy. He and Drew are two peas in a pod, if Jax didn't follow Drew around every where I'd be willing to bet Drew would follow him around. He's just the right amount of mischievous, which means he doesn't tear up anything of value and makes us laugh on a daily basis.
"What it was in Daddy's burn pile?!"
JR's double as lap desk in case you didn't know.
This was shortly after I put his kennel together, I couldn't find him and there he was just sitting in it.
Drew saves him his streak bones.
And they ride around on the tractor together like it's the most normal thing ever.
Jax also likes to watch dog shows, he has big dreams.
Well I think that's enough for now, this weekend deserves a post of it's own so I'll try to make time for that tomorrow. I hope you all have the best Monday possible!
