Set in Stone...well Concrete!

We are 1 week into building our new home and man are we excited!  The slab is poured and framing starts next week.  We are so ready to be back in our favorite neighborhood.  Right now we are living in a 650 square foot condo in downtown Baton Rouge and needless to say it's like trying to squeeze your foot into a shoe that's three sizes too small.  All of our worldly possessions are packed away in a POD and there isn't a month that goes by that Andrew doesn't say, "You 'member that toy I used to play with at our old house, where is it?"  I think he's starting to think of "storage" as a big bully who has taken all of his BIG toys. :(

Today we took Andrew out to see the site and while it was freezing he stood in every room on the slab and visualized where everything would be, especially in his room.  He exclaimed, "This is the biggest house I've 'eber seen!"  I miss being able to judge everything on a kid size scale, but with Drew's "Man Cave" we are looking at about 3000 square feet of living area.  Can you said M-A-I-D!!

Drew found these new cypress beams and then distressed them himself.  These will be headers in the interior brick walls of the library and foyer.

Our first picture in our new house! :)
