Our trip to Hawaii was...amazing, unforgettable, beautiful, and many more adjectives that describe a fantastic time.
Our first morning on Maui we woke up at 2:30am Hawaii time, that's 6:30am central time. We wanted to see the sunrise at Haleakala crater, which is the east Maui volcano which makes up about 75% of the island. Being above the cloud ceiling was like being on another planet, it was beautiful...and freezing! We knew it would be pretty chilly at at altitude of 11,000 feet, but we didn't prepare ourselves for 20 degree weather on Maui! After sunrise we mountain biked the 23 miles down the volcano through the Haleakala National Park. It was a blast!
Road to Hana, this was another one of our favorites. We took the Hana Highway all the way around the east side of the island. The landscape was so lush and green on the "wet side" and the "dry side" was just as beautiful!
Whale watching was also on our list of things we wanted to do while on Maui! We happened upon two comp groups of 3 whales each, so we saw six hump backs total. It was truly one of the most incredible things I've ever seen!
Five spouts at once!
Pearl Harbor was a very sobering experience to say the least. The memorial is both beautiful and yet so tragic.
I couldn't have asked for a better 30th birthday!! My husband really out did himself making sure everything was just perfect. Love you babe!
