Day Seven of the Thankful Project

So, today I am most thankful for my #1 purchase I made while in Canton.  I would like to introduce you to Jax, our new 7 week old Jack Russell Terrior!

Isn't he the cutest little thing you've ever seen with four legs!  Every year when I leave for Canton I tell Drew that I'm bringing home a dog and every year I chicken out, let's face it dogs are a lot of responsibility...until I saw this little guy.  I just couldn't leave without him.  I think I had almost forgotten how great puppy breathe is!  I'm sure I'll have many more Jax stories to come.

"Ankle Biter" is an understatement! ;)

Sweet puppy dreams!

Day Five and Six of the Thankful Project

So I'm a little behind on my blogging but I made a mental note of the things I was thankful for over the weekend.  Here we go!

Day 5, Saturday

-The "W."  That's right the big W-I-N over Bama Saturday night!  Was that not the most gut wrenching, nail biting football game you've ever seen?!  I-dee-clare!!  Along with the "W,"  I'm thankful for school/team pride, the women of Louisiana demonstrated while shopping in Canton.  A random "Geaux Tigers" could heard throughout the day and anyone wearing a hounds-tooth pattern was immediately offered up as "Tiger Bait" by anyone wearing purple and gold.  Congrats to our Tigers, to Les Miles, and to the rest of the LSU coaching staff!

We knew we would see the "Keep Calm and Carry On" signs all over Canton, so we figured it would be funny to jump on the bandwagon and wear these while we shopped.

-My sister Stacie.  Her birthday was Saturday as well.  The big 42!  I am so glad we were able to spend her birthday with my Mom and my sister Paula.  It's so much fun when we all get together, all of our personalities come out, we relax, and just be sisters and daughters instead of the many roles we fulfill on a daily basis.

Day 6, Sunday

-Home.  I was so glad to get home to my husbie, my bed, and to get our new household addition settled in.

-My Mama's pumpkin pie.  My pie somehow managed to make it though the weekend without my sisters devouring it.  I shared my first piece with Drew and a cold glass of milk, I'm pretty positive it's the best pumpkin pie my Mom has ever made...ever.  Delicious!

Day Four of Thankful Project

What a day! There are ten of us in Canton, TX for market this weekend! Our motto is "Shop til you drop...or til the money's all gone!". So far we have found some pretty great stuff and we are gearing up for another day at it tomorrow.

So today I am thankful for:
-My wonderful shopping partners. Southern women sure do love to shop.
-My loving husband who put some extra spending money in my cup holder!
-Safe travels.
-Good deals.
-And shopping carts! :)

The Game of the Year

In case you haven't heard this weekend is the National Championship of College Football...no it's not the Sugar Bowl but it might as well be.  I've never seen hype like this before a regular season game!  Baton Rouge is so pumped, anxiety is running high, and no one wants to say much out loud at least not without knocking on wood first.  I'll be watching the game in Tyler, TX this weekend but my heart will be in Tuscaloosa with my team, my Tigers, my Alma mater.  Geaux Tigers!

These are the shirts I ordered for the BIG game!

Our shopping crew are wearing these on Saturday!

Day 3 of Project Thankful

Today I am thankful for the French!

No, not just for their fine fashion sense, or their accents, or the Statue of Liberty...my thankfulness is a little more selfish than that.  Today I am thankful for their profit sharing plan which stemmed from a new law in France...let me remind you that the company I work for is French owned.  Getting the picture yet?

Yes, the law only pertains to French employees but our exec's figured all employees should benefit!  What better way to end a work week, just before a weekend shopping trip, than finding out that your next pay check will have a some extra cushion just in time for Christmas!

Day Two of Project Thankful

Today I am most thankful for laughter.

Laughter has brought me back from the brink on my darkest days.  There are those moments of the most severe heartbreaks that you just think your soul will never recover from the pain and then you laugh.  Not just a slight snicker either I'm talking that laugh that wakes you up and makes you realize that everything's gonna be a-okay.  Even a simple bad day can be completely turned around with a good laugh.

Laughter gives us distance.  It allows us to step back from an event, deal with it and then move on.  ~Bob Newhart

I love hearing other people laugh too, you know that laugh that only they can make.  There are quite a few laughs in my life that light up my day just by hearing them: my sister Stacies', Willie's, Andrew's, my Dad's, and my husband's.  Their laughs are so unique and some of them like my Dad's and Drew's only happen when something is really, truly funny to them.

What makes you laugh a laugh that makes the world seem a little brighter and your problems a little lighter?

Today I laughed out loud at this picture,

There were quite a few things that went through my head when I first saw it.
First, the most obvious, "How did he get in that precarious situation?"
Second, "What was he after?"
And finally the thought that had me laughing out loud, "His mom totally left him there to get her camera and take this shot!"  I love his mom for that!

30 Days of Thankfulness

Last November I would randomly blog about things I was thankful for in honor of Thanksgiving.  This year I'm going to try to blog every day about the things, people, or places I am most thankful for.  I found that making a list like this really puts my day into perspective and highlights even the little things that are important to me.

Today I'm thankful for:
  • Women.  I must admit that I prefer working in an environment that is mostly male.  I've always gotten along better with guys and growing up my best friends were always boys.  I'm a tom-boy at heart and it really wasn't until college that I met most of the girl-friends I have today.  Let's face it ladies, we have more issues, more drama, and more complaints than men, at least most of them.  And usually an office full of women is drama filled...BUT there are some things that men just don't get!  And I'm having a day where communication between me and the fellas just isn't going the way I want it to, so today I am thankful for all of the ladies out there who just get it and here's a shout out to the women who work in a man's world!  Sometimes it's tough!
  • The weekend!  I am so ready for Thursday to get here.  I'll be on my way to Canton, TX to shop the Trade Days with two amazing friends, my sister, and we'll be meeting my mom and another of my sisters there.  I'm so ready to get a hug from my Mom, there's just nothing like a hug from the woman that brought you into this world!  Not to mention she'll have my pumpkin pie in hand. Sigh.
  • Automatic Sprinklers.  As I sit here typing I heard the sprinklers kick on in my flower beds, they we're definitely worth the sweat and mula my honey and I put into installing them.
  • Lastly for the day, I am thankful for my husband.  He listens to me vent, he advises when I need advising, and his hugs make my stress melt away.  He's just what I needed today...and everyday. :)
So, what are you thankful for today?
